Seven decades of building the parts other shops turn down.

Autronic Plastics, Inc. was founded in 1953 and has grown from a small molding shop into a full-service custom manufacturer — still family-run, still on Long Island, still building its own molds.

Our story

In its early years API solved problems for specialized markets in life safety products and office equipment, earning a reputation for taking on the difficult part and the difficult material. In 1993 the company acquired a security and media packaging line, pioneering reusable, theft-deterring packaging for the entertainment and pharmaceutical markets. In 1999 the company opened a regional molding and assembly center in North Carolina (API South) to serve customers in the Southeast, and earned its first ISO 9001 registration the same year.

By 2012 the company had outgrown its space. Rather than expand away from home, API's Long Island-native owners consolidated every department — the original New Cassel plant and API South alike — into one purpose-built facility, and in the summer of 2014 opened the 100,000 sq ft headquarters at 1150 Motor Parkway in Central Islip, Suffolk County. Everything API makes has been built there since. The building was laid out around material flow: a climate-controlled molding floor, a tool room under the same bridge cranes as the presses, an automation and engineering lab, and four truck bays with a drive-in dock.

Today API manufactures for medical and dental, defense and aerospace, lighting and life safety, automotive, security packaging, display, and industrial customers, with a press range of 55 to 1,200 tons, complete metal fabrication, and six-axis robotic automation.

How we work

API has stayed independent and family-run, which shows in how programs are handled: an engineer, not a portal, reviews every inquiry; the people who design the mold are the people who maintain it; and confidential information has been handled under non-disclosure practice since the company's first customers. Our aim with every program is the same — a part that is right the first time, built by a supplier you can drive to.

Careers

API hires creative, hard-working people for the tool room, molding floor, automation lab, quality, and front office. To inquire about openings, email a cover letter and résumé to sales@apisolution.com with "Careers" in the subject line.
